Teen Suicide: Take Action & Save Lives

Arizona Talks, Mesa United Way, and the Mesa Chamber of Commerce are hosting a public forum on the topic of Teen Suicide. The seminar is titled, “It Can’t Wait!: Ending the Epidemic of Suicide in Young Adults” and will feature conversations focusing on the experience of students, parents, and educators. Resources and counseling will be available for attendees.
The event will bring together some of Arizona’s top experts on this issue and local voices for action. The program includes an overview of the rise of teen suicides in the East Valley, personal stories, a panel discussion on solutions and a reception. The FREE and open to the public event is on Wednesday, May 9th starting at 5:30PM, in Mesa, AZ. Register for FREE at ArizonaTalks.org.
Topics that will be discussed include prevention, including recognizing warning signs, improving communication between parents and their teens, monitoring social media closely, getting help immediately for those in crisis and removing “lethal means” of committing suicide, such as guns and belts.
